The Green Wanderer presents...
Teaching in Thailand
Of the many experiences and jobs that the Prince has been through, teaching has got to be the most stimulating and rewarding. It all started back in 2001 when he won a scholarship to travel and teach in a Thailand. (read more about this experience on the travel page) The prince returned to Thailand again early 2002 C.E. (2545 B.E./0000.02 E.E.), with an ESL teaching job lined up in Phetchburi province. For 15 months, he instructed ESL conversation in various primary and secondary (government and private) schools throughout Phetchburi, Ratchburi, Prachuap, Samut Sonkram, and Samut Sakhon provinces. His students' age ranged from 3 to 18 years old. Classes were anywhere from privates to as large as 50 pupils per class. The English speaking/comprehension differed greatly among the many schools and students.

To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is to concur that Steven W. Layne was employed with Siam Computer and Language School in Phetchburi, Thailand for a period of 15 months.

From May of 2002 up to August of 2003, Steven proved himself to be a responsible and reliable employee.
With the school, his responsibilities included instructing ESL conversation courses to primary and secondary Thai students.

Because many of the schools were less-funded country schools, the students' resources and overall contact with foreigners has been scarce. Thus, a majority of them lack the conversation skills to communicate in English. Therefore it takes a lot of patience and confidence to effectively instruct ESL.

On behalf of Siam Computer and Language School, Phetchburi, I would like to refer Steven for any future educational opportunities. As a student and a teacher, he is deserving.
